Duchy Canine Hydrotherapy

Hi, I'm Steph!

Duchy Canine Hydrotherapy is based in South East Cornwall and is run by Stephanie Ridout. Steph holds an FdSc Animal Behaviour and Psychology, BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour and Welfare and Level 3 Diploma in Small Animal Hydrotherapy.

Located on a working organic farm, Duchy Canine Hydrotherapy is a state-of-the-art facility including the latest equipment for helping our four-legged friends get better following an operation, accident or illness.

Apart from having a life-long love of dogs, Stephanie has focused her education and training on becoming an expert and specialist in canine hydrotherapy.

A Holistic Approach

For Steph, it’s not just about the ailment, injury or problem: inviting a dog into the caring environment of Duchy Canine means taking into account the whole story. A holistic approach means nothing is overlooked. From diet to exercise, from temperament to abilities, all the sum parts make the whole.

Here at Duchy Canine Hydrotherapy, Steph’s credentials and experience, along with the support of her family, means Steph’s been able to achieve her ambition and opened her hydrotherapy facility that’s able to accept all vet-approved dogs for a wide range of treatments suitable to their individual requirements.

As water is the main focus, each piece of equipment has been carefully researched and selected and the pool, underwater treadmill and spa all offer the latest liquid ways of helping your hound!

Excellent Equipment

Steph and the team maintain the equipment to the highest standards and all therapies are carefully planned. Once you’ve had to thumbs up from your vet, we’re good to go!

Hydrotherapy Pool

Our hydrotherapy pool has an area of 5-metres by 3-metres with ramp or hoist access. There is space for dogs of all shapes and sizes. The water is kept at a constant therapeutic temperature of 30°C and with added feature of jets and underwater cameras.

Our pool’s chlorine levels and PH are closely monitored and tested three times a day.

Underwater Treadmill

We have a Tudor Treadmill with an incline and with entry and exit doors each end. This means your dog doesn’t need to turn around to exit the treadmill.

Our Tudor Treadmill provides the latest technology, enabling tailored programmes specific to your dogs’ needs and requirements.

spa

The Jacuzzi Spa has 8 directional massage jets which can be adjusted towards painful areas of the joints. This will deliver to your dog the ultimate relaxing massage. The warm water and massage jets will increase the blood circulation, reducing stiffness and ease any discomfort.

The spa is particularly good for elderly or arthritic dogs and can be used before or after a hydrotherapy session or as a standalone treatment.

SAFETY FIRST

All dogs receiving hydrotherapy at our centre will either wear a float coat or harness and will be accompanied in the pool and underwater treadmill by a qualified hydrotherapist. To ensure your dog’s safety we only allow one dog in the pool at any time and each individual must have a completed and signed vet approval form
